The choice of TLD is really down to your preference - Generic Top Level Domains like .com are often seen as international whereas Country Level Domains like .co.uk are seen as UK only. There is also .us for the USA.

You can of course register several domains and link them back to the same website, but DO NOT DUPLICATE content or you will be penalised by the search engines.
